Eyes Turned Skyward by Rebecca Yarros

This was a very cute read.
Paisley was a damsel-in-distress, multiple times over, and there was insta-love. So those two factors definitely cost this book a star.
I was looking for a romance to read while recovering from a book hangover and I almost started The Opportunist by Tarryn Fisher, but that trilogy seemed pretty angsty, so I went with something lighter.
Even though this was lighter, this book deals with some heavy issues. The main character has a very serious heart condition. There is also a secondary character struggling with drug addiction. But I didn't really connect with Paisley's health problems. I thought she came off really immature regarding her approach to her health. And once the truth came out about her list, I lost all sympathy from her. I know people grieve differently, but the things she did in her condition were downright stupid. Other than that I related to her character. She's a bookworm who wants to be a librarian, and I enjoyed her personality for the most part. So she had those qualities going for her.
I loved Jagger. He did fall in love at first sight. But he was such a stand up guy. Smart, hot, devoted, selfless. What more could a girl ask for, really?
Their love story was cute. A little annoying at times, but a good fluffy book to help you through a book hangover.
